With Institut français, we're offering you the chance to win 2x tickets to The Flood at Ciné Lumière, followed by a Q&A with director Gianluca Jodice & costume designer Massimo Cantini Parrini as part of Fashion & Cinema!
The French Institute in London presents Versailles: in Every Sense, revisiting the Sun King’s court through dance, music, cinema, fragrance and fashion from 24 January to 1 April 2025. A curated film programme will capture the Palace’s dramatic legacy and invite you to explore the relationships between fashion, cinema and costume design with the UK Premiere of Gianluca Jodice’s The Flood.
When talking about Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette, what immediately comes to mind are lace, tall wigs, flamboyant clothes and colours, Versailles, or… the guillotine. Here, between these two extremes, exists a middle ground, a period seldom explored: the few months when the last king and queen of France were imprisoned, with their two young children, in a black castle on the outskirts of Paris, awaiting their executions.
This series of events echoes the Versailles: Science and Splendour exhibition at the Science Museum and invites audiences to embark on a sensory journey.
