Staying cool in South Kensington
As the temperature rises, we have some suggestions to escape the heat in South Kensington. With over 600 acres of Royal Parks on our doorstep, enjoy a shady stroll through the beautiful gardens, avenues, wildflower meadows of Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park.
Take a dip in the Serpentine Lido to cool off or rent a boat on the Serpentine lake and catch a summer breeze. Also in the Royal Parks, you can refresh your feet in the cascading water of the Diana Memorial Fountain.
Over at the V&A, escape the heat with a visit to the beautiful John Madejski garden with it's shallow courtyard pool and garden café. Or in the Science Museum, indulge in delicious made-to-order ice cream milkshakes at the Shake Bar.
In the Natural History Museum, you can cool off with a visit to their galleries and walk beneath the largest animal on earth in Hinze Hall - the gateway to the museum's collections and galleries.
